I was collecting milkweed seed pods along a half mile stretch of northbound Hutchinson River Parkway, Bronx. Department of transportation allows me to mark patches of common milkweed, which they then mow around. I have not been seeing any monarch butterflies the past couple weeks so was very surprised to see 4 possibly 5 today. It was a warm day, sunny and 74°. But this concerns me because shouldn’t they have headed south by now?
