Arrived to the tip of Point Pelee National Park approximately 1/2 hour before sunset. Strong south wind most of the day switching to west late afternoon. Conditions according to the Weather app on my telephone at 18:29: 21°C with a windchill of 16°C, wind west at 31 km/h with gusts up to 48 km/h, humidity 49%, dewpoint 10°C, barometric pressure 101 kPa and rising. Went to the east side of the tip and the wind was blowing through the forest and affecting this area as well. Headed northward along the east beach picking my way over the fallen trees to where the wind was less intense and was able to find this one Monarch perched 3/4 of the way up a Hackberry tree with an eastern exposure.
Had a report through the day from a new friend, that she observed Monarchs in the following locations:
1 west beach
1 near the shuttle stop
2 East beach
1 West path
Between 11:30-12:30
None were leaving due to south wind. Wind switching to northwest overnight.
