Hummingbird, Nectaring from Flowers
Sightings report image

Number: 1

I try not to make a lengthy as seen boring report 5 paragraphs long in comments.

Anyways, we are lucky to have a house with a lot of double and picture windows. I don't sit and watch hummingbirds 24/7. We planted Hamelias in every window bc hummingbirds migrate year round. So we see them with this plant set up.

But in the last 8 years Rufous have overwintered in Houston anually. 2 Houston Audubon friends have relayed the same. Rufous really like guranticas and Hamelia pattens as the current sub adult is doing arials close to. Photo attached is early 7 a.m. with not light enough to see Rufous nectaring from Mexucan honeysuckle.

I'm am amazed at the evolution so to speak in seeing so many Rufous coming thru here.
