Female monarch emerged today, 1st warm day for awhile. On Thurs, chrysalis revealed the monarch with its markings.
Monarch had eclosed by 8 a.m. Fri Oct 9; left in place until ~1 p.m. put outside; was gone by ~3:30 p.m. when T ~62 F.

A chrysalis appeared above my porch doorway, (inside). First noticed Oct 9. Bright green, seemed quite recently formed. Food for caterpillars had been removed a few days previously.
Not certain, but believe a "ready to pupate" caterpillar entered the porch via gaps in door frame or when open at length for cleaning etc.
Have not been seeing monarchs visiting the yard recently.
