11:32am—Backyard garden—Seemed happy and healthy! Fluttered and glided around me once as I tried to position for a photo. This same one mainly stayed on my cosmos. Bounced between several before taking off into the wind and out of sight. This one also appeared to have a slight wing deformity at the very tips of its wings. The black edging with the white dots were not uniform to a full wing. Didn't seem to hinder flight whatsoever as I watched it fly around and fly away.
Also, on October 12th 2024 at 2:45pm, I had spotted another monarch in my garden. No good clear photo but I did capture a video of it flying off a cosmo and around my garden before taking off out of sight. Had the flutter and glid flight pattern but I suppose it could be a viceroy. It fed mainly on my cosmos but had seen it land on two different zinnia heads I have as well.
