A few weeks ago I was surprised to still find 2 little monarch caterpillars on the milkweed in my yard. (I thought the season for monarch eggs/caterpillars was done in Iowa with fall approaching.) Brought the caterpillars inside to raise due to the cooler weather. One emerged on Oct.21, 2024! It flew south after we put it on some mums on a warm fall day.
Sadly, it looks like the other chrysalis won't make it.
