2 nights ago at dusk 7:00 p.m. I sat out to watch. A hummingbird flew into our desert willow tree and have not seen it since then (10/24)
We are in the above 90's still here so if any they hide out more.
I definitely think rubythroats migration as a cumulative is about over by November 1st this year. Yes a stragler can come from northern areas. But compared to a lot more of last years 10/23 year's reports we're hardly seeing that now in 10/24.
For your area go to AUDUBON HUMMINGBIRD FACTS as I do, for guidance about how long to keep feeders up. On my end I don't like to see heaters for hummingbird feeders to mess with their instincts.
To encourage them to stay in east. Forecasters say storms and snow is coming to east this Halloween. Rain here so they could do a weather 'fall out' if any are migrating south late. That would be western species included. We are in a keep out year round feeder host.
