3 Monarchs enclosed from Chrysalis that decided to choose grape vines that grow next to our Sunscreen room.
They had survived 1 frost by feeding off Milkweed pods. The plants were in a protected pocket at the end of the house area and the.
Knowing a reported frost was coming we put 3 pots of Mexican sunflowers in our greenhouse. This past week we experienced warm sunny days so put the plants in our screenroom. The three, 2 females and 1 male enclosed w/in hrs of each other. They rested overnight and mid next day was able to capture one nectaring.
We were able to see this one flew off in a vertical direction to a height that we lost sight of it. I guess it was ready to migrate.
The other 2 where not to be seen. So this, although late closed the end of our 2024 season.
