Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 10/30/2024

Number: 1

I'm fairly certain that we have a Rufous hummingbird. While I have yet to see one, the volume in 2 of our hummingbird feeders is noticeably decreasing in volume. This has been evident for a few weeks now. It should be noted that the ports on the type of hummingbird feeders I use (Best 1) are far too small for other birds to access the solution.

Two years ago, we had a juvenile male Rufous hummingbird show up around the middle of October. He ended up staying with us all winter and didn't head out until March 25th of the following Spring. We named him Raphy and he was/is very dear to us. He didn't join us last fall/winter. Obviously, I don't know if the one that I suspect is here this year is Raphy, but time will tell! It's definitely exciting! :)
