The first sightings of Monarch butterflies reaching the mountains of "Cerro Pelón" and "El Rosario" Sanctuarie, have been reported since yesterday October 31, by our local friends there. Not so for Angangueo area, where a cold front has been hitting us since Oct 27, and has brought heavy grey clouds, light rain and chilly weather up to yesterday mid-afternoon, when we could see the last rays of the sun setting down. Today, November 1st, we have a splendorous day, which will allow us to spot first Monarchs overflying our area for sure!. Given the confirmation of sightings from our friends from "Cerro Pelón" and "El Rosario" Sanctuary, it is a fact that THE FIRST MONARCHS HAVE STARTED TO REACH THEIR ANCESTRAL OVERWINTERING SPOTS IN "CERRO PELÓN", "EL ROSARIO" AND VERY PROBABLY "SIERRA CHINCUA" (this latter covered with grey clouds and chilly weather up 18 hours ago). OBSERVATIONS FROM LOCALS INCLUDING ANGANGUEO'S SURROUNDINGS NOW, POINT OUT THAT THE PROBABLE ARRIVAL OF VERY FIRST MONARCHS INDIVIDUALS MAY HAVE TAKEN PLACE BETWEEN OCTOBER 29 and OCT 30, this latter confirmed by our friends from "Pelón" and "Rosario". A couple of days EARLIER than they arrived last year. Welcome Monarch Season 2024-2025! H u r r a !. Estela Romero, Angangueo, Michoacán, México.
