Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 11/01/2024

Number: 1

Where I live in Central Austin, I have been seeing only about one Monarch a day for the past couple of weeks during the migratory period. Austin has had 2 months of drought and high heat, so there is very little blooming for Monarchs to eat. That must be a major reason why the migratory path passed through Texas far west of Austin this year, where rains had been better.
I saw this tattered Monarch at the Sunshine Community Garden today in North Central Austin.
