Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 11/01/2024

Number: 1

I observed a single adult monarch flying south across a tilled patch of soil. I got a clear view of it but was unable to get a photo as it stayed in flight until I lost sight. I'm an experienced observer and a native plant biologist, and I am certain that this was a monarch. It's the latest one that I've ever observed and occurred after a night of heavy frost (low in the upper twenties F). Almost no floral resources remain in our region (very few late asters in protected locations).
