1 smallish male butterfly was raised from a caterpillar found on Asclepias sullivantii at 39.56887213487732 -89.96239681403806 and remained there. It eclosed early morning 11/02 and was released mid afternoon. It was observed several times on different parts of a large MX sunflowers plant, but was not observed flying. It was gone the next morning.
2024 Summary Revised:
Raised and released 104 Monarch butterflies.
Also, released 6 additional Monarchs from eggs I collected but others raised and returned as chrysalises.
Eggs and larva were collected on Asclepias syriaca, A. sullivantii, or A. incarnata growing in my yard south of in Waverly, IL. All reported were raised on Asclepias syriaca in mesh cages.
