Sightings report image

Date: 11/15/2024

Number: 40

I was on a 3 day trip to Bulls Island in the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge near Awendaw, SC. As our guide took us to the Boneyard Beach part of the island, we saw at least 40 monarchs, quite possibly more. There were a couple of groups of a dozen in trees, others flying around along the trail and a few flying on the beach, some getting nectar from flowers and even a pair mating. It was amazing! They were so beautiful. I have many more photos but couldn’t figure out how to submit more.
