Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 12/02/2024

Number: 6

I began raising monarchs When I first purchased a few milkweed plants and placed them in my backyard. I raise them from the egg stage through adult butterfly in my backyard beginning 8/24. I find the young caterpillars on my potted milkweed and began moving them to an enclosure once I discovered small lizards and other creatures, living in my backyard, had eaten several chrysalis and over 20 caterpillars in one night. I currently have 7 chrysalis and approximately 15 caterpillars in various stages of growth in my enclosure. Yesterday I released one monarch butterfly and the day before I released two, and earlier last week I released three others. Does raising them in an enclosure disqualify me from submitting sightings? Just let me know.
