We continue to see many monarchs in this area. Many sunning themselves on tree branches in a small grove of redwoods. Others flying about, basking in the sun and nectaring on early spring flowers. We are also seeing caterpillars of all stages and yesterday we counted two crysalides in a reed plant next to some milkweed. The milkweed has almost completely died back but there seems to be enough to keep the caterpillars going. Some are chewing on milkweed stems and seed pods.
