Monarch Larva Sighted

Date: 01/27/2025

Number: 1

For the larva-On milkweed that I just put back outside. It was cut back weeks ago and brought in for the freeze 1/15/25. It must have been that there was a leftover egg on the cut down milkweed stems. I went thru the cuttings to ensure no eggs were on them but didn’t check the stems.
I had several butterflies (Queens included) throughout December flying around.

I raised 3 chrysalides indoors (2 Queens and 1 Monarch) thru their birth 1/16/25. I will release them tomorrow for their maiden voyages.

I found 1 downed Monarch in the rain on my patio 1/29/25. He had just been born. I snatched him up and hung him upside down just in the nick of time for his wings to be ok. He will be released tomorrow with the others.
