Should have reported earlier, obviously. Last fall on a road trip west of Trinidad, CO, discovered a large patch of what appears to be common milkweed A. syriaca growing near North Lake on HWY 12 at an elevation of about 8400'. One small monarch larva found on old growth!

Had not seen any adults in my butterfly garden in Trinidad at 6000' so was surprised to see a larva that late and at that elevation. Returned in October to gather seeds for my garden.
