Tulips EMERGED
Sightings report image

Date: 03/10/2025

First tulip emerged this morning (Monday March 10) at Washington Technology Magnet School.

We are part of the SPPS (Saint Paul Public Schools) Tulip Test Garden Participatory Science cohort. We planted 1,000 red emperor tulips at 18 school sites with over 800 students across Saint Paul last October. We're wondering if the Urban Heat Island Effect could change the timing of our tulips - when they emerge and when they bloom. We are comparing our Urban tulip gardens to the ex-urban tulip garden at Belwin Outdoor Science, located in Afton MN. So far 4 urban tulip have emerged, and Belwin's garden has not! Science is fun!
