It must be spring because the blackbirds are back! A huge flock of blackbirds arrived at about 10:00am Saturday morning during blizzard conditions. It had been 70 degrees & sunny the day before! Poor birds were hunkering down among my taller perennials and grasses in my flowerbed and in the pine & cedar trees. I tossed a few cups full of black oil sunflower seeds and a wild bird mix that includes cracked corn, millet, etc and they were very appreciative. They stayed active all day and were here over night and then moved on later Sunday afternoon. There were also a few grackles traveling with the flock. I usually have 2 male blackbirds that come to my feeders every year but this was a first for me to have a whole flock visit my feeders outside my windows. Was a fun birdwatching day!
