Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 03/16/2025

Number: 2

This afternoon two monarch larvae emerged from their eggs. The eggs had been laid on March 8th by the first monarch I had seen this season on the first milkweed sprout I had seen this season. So I was checking this plant pretty regularly! Finally this tiny caterpillar emerged ~ seen here eating the last of the egg casing. A fellow caterpillar also emerged and several of the other eggs looked close to hatching.
