Monarch, Captive-Reared

Date: 03/24/2025

Number: 10

I just found a bunch of caterpillars in my butterfly garden. I bought a home kit in 4/2020 of painted ladies. Since then i have had them cycle throughout the years. My lanai screens have been messed up and I attracted a vary of insects apparently a monarch butterly flew in and layed eggs at some point. I had polka dotted wasp moths back in 9/2024. I have a picture of a monarch butterfly from 9/2024 as well that I just realized what it was were monarchs recyclying not the painted ladies. It must have layed eggs. So now I have 10 caterpillars in my yard, but i also have 10 painted ladies in a kit in chrysalis because i thought they all died in the storm and I haven't seen butterflies in months. I am not sure what to do because I read I can't have them live together. I want to make sure I do right by the monarch now that I know what they are.
