At 12 noon it was 75 degrees F, partly cloudy, with 77% humidity, and winds 13mph from the S. As I walked about the pastures and meadows I observed at least 10 individual monarchs.
I saw five milkweed-seeking females and five other monarchs flying around and nectaring from yellow & pink thistles, blackberry blossoms, lyre-leaf sage, and false garlic flowers. I also came upon a mated pair in the grass right next to a milkweed plant. (I will add their photo to Monarch (OTHER Observations).
This is a photo of one of the male monarchs today as he sips from a newly opening pink thistle in the late afternoon sunlight.
