Lark sparrow (Chondestes grammacus), 104 Major Hatch, Jeff Davis County, TX (our residence). Most migratory sparrows (Family Passerellidae) in this area are here in winter, absent in summer. An exception is the lark sparrow, seen in the Davis Mountains area in summer, but rarely in winter. This is our first sighting of this species this year. (We also do have some year-round sparrow species.) Photo is with zoomed iPhone through double-pane window.
