I saw two mated monarch pairs today. I was able to get a photo of this pair in an elm tree in our front yard, which is where they decided to land. In the second case, they flew high over some tall trees and I lost them. The mated pairs are always super sensitive to being seen, which is understandable given their vulnerable situation. They seek out safe places that camouflage them. I feel lucky when I see them flying, as otherwise I wouldn't see them at all.
