On a short jaunt around I observed six monarchs ~ flying, resting, nectaring, and milkweed-seeking on this sunny, warm day. This is a female monarch that I had been following as she found milkweed to lay eggs on. Here she is taking a nectar break on this flowering milkweed (Asclepias viridis) deep in some tall grass.
