This is a female monarch laying an egg on a milkweed plant (Asclepias viridis). It was interesting as another female had laid her own eggs on this same milkweed plant just moments earlier (shown in another monarch report). There were plenty of milkweed plants to choose from and indeed both females lay eggs on multiple plants, but they each really gravitated toward this one.
