Last year my first Monarch sighting was on May 27. Today (5/17) was my first sighting for 2025 and I am so excited. I took several photos and think this is a female, but none of my photos confirms this. This individual spent a few hours circling our yard that offers two large blooming butterfly bushes. It rested on a rose and on the leaves of a tree several times, but did not stop to eat during those hours. It was a warm day today, but very windy all day long. I wondered if those conditions made it difficult to relax and feed. Hopefully I will be able to report many more sightings in the days to come!
