I have stopped seeing a familiar ruby-throated hummingbird that I think was one that had been in this spot at least one previous summer. This is the first year that I've had a pair of Merlins in the yard and have been hearing them many times a day. I don't know if they hot my hummingbird, but I strongly suspect it. I hope they don't also get the female. (She doesn't have a regular perch where I can count on finding her, so I won't know whether she's still around.)
