Monarch Larva (FIRST sighted)
Sightings report image

Date: 06/09/2025

Number: 1

My daughter and I were sitting on our front porch chatting, and she looked over and saw a 1st instar monarch larva on our common milkweed, readying to molt. It had made a silk button on the leaf and anchored itself in preparation for crawling out of its old "skin." We brought it in the house and are now raising it. This is a photo of it after it successfully molted and was munching again, taken on 6-11-25.
