Monarch Larva Sighted
Sightings report image

Date: 06/01/2025

Number: 20

After we had very few in the fall, a beautiful female deposited eggs in April which is still rather late for the Phoenix area; and we released about 40 tagged monarchs in May and thought that was all we would have being the heat in Phoenix is usually too much for them, but on June 1 we noticed this larva and subsequently discovered about 20 more in our garden on both asclepsia angustifolia and asclepsia curassavica. Currently 3 adult monarchs have eclosed today June 12, and there are 17 more chrysalides that appear healthy.
