I saw a monarch flying in our front yard the day before, but didn't have the time to follow up on it. Today I saw this fresh-winged female monarch flying around in an upper meadow and nectaring from slim milkweed blossoms (Asclepias linearis).

It was 11am, sunny, 88 degrees F, with 64% humidity, and winds 10mph from the S.

In a lower pasture I found a 3rd instar monarch caterpillar on a green milkweed plant (Asclepias viridis).
