The ruby-throats are beginning to visit my feeders more often. Previously the unusually heavy bloom of wild laurels, flame azaleas, and black locusts kept them busy. Now, in spite of the wild rhododendrons beginning to flower, they are turning their attention more and more to sugar water. However, it is hard to keep track of how much they are consuming because daily temperatures in the low 90s have made it necessary to change the sugar water before the feeders are emptied. I believe I have two males and four females.
