Hummingbird (OTHER Observations)

Date: 07/07/2025

Number: 1

Just saw either same male that was here or another new one at 9 a.m. It was trying to nectar on blue porterweed. None are going to feeders. We have had so much rain all we get is plants growing tall and not blooming much in the heat.

I don't think ya'll in east realize there are fewer Rubythroats because of either weather conditions like past summer hurricanes, excessive heat, lack of food supplies, and jet stream move them elsewhere to nest. Life span is usually 5/7 years. They are also migrating back down 3 weeks earlier this year for my location. Hang in there reporters.
