Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 07/07/2025

Number: 1

July 7 was very warm - 85 degree F.

I have been eager to see my first monarch fueling up or laying eggs on my common or swamp milkweed that grow near our woodland ponds. (I live on 12 acres of mixed forest with three pond.)

I walked to my swamp milkweed patch and there was my first sighting on one of the swamp milkweed flowers. However, with the warm temperatures and buffeting breeze, I was unable to get a photo as the butterfly was being tossed about and it did not stay long on the flower. Off it flew and I did not see her or him again as I hoped I would.
