Saw 4-6 adult monarchs late in afternoon around 2 butterfly bushes. 2 were swirling around together in the air trying to mate for about an hour or so. Did not see them hook up. Saw a monarch chase a swallowtail away from the butterfly bush. Saw a little black banded hairstreak butterfy, morning cloak, black swallowtail, and many cabbage butterflies this week and a ton of baby grasshoppers. 90 degree weather, breezie wind. Big rain storm later in middle of night. Hope the butterflies held on to the trees.
