2 monarchs roosting together in common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), approximately 7 meters above ground level on side of tree facing southwest. Both monarchs continue to spread wings in sunlight during observation period of 7 minutes, but do not depart. Other monarchs still flying in prairie restoration to the north.

Wind from northeast at 4 mph. 69 degrees Fahrenheit (20.56 Celsius). RH 68%. Sunset scheduled for 1928 hours.

Adjacent to Henslow Trail, near Iron Bridge Trailhead, Iron Bridge Prairie Restoration, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (U.S. Forest Service). Early for peak migration.
