2 monarchs roosting in in common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), approximately 3 meters above ground level on side of tree facing southwest.

Wind from northeast at 5 mph. 69 degrees Fahrenheit (20.56 Celsius). RH 70%. Sunset scheduled for 1928 hours.

Adjacent to Henslow Trail, near Iron Bridge Trailhead, Iron Bridge Prairie Restoration, Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (U.S. Forest Service). Early for peak migration

5 total monarchs in common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis). 2 monarchs roosting togeger on one branch on the west side of tree (second monarch flew up and joined first monarch as we observed), 1 in a separate branch on west side. 1 monarch on the southwest side of tree. 1 monarch on the south side of tree. All monarchs are approximately 7 – 8 meters above ground. Monarch activity still observed with monarchs exploring trees, with tendency to fly to west / southwest exploring trees.

Wind from east-northeast at 5 mph. 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 Celsius). RH 71%. Sunset scheduled for 1928 hours.
