1811 Hours

1 monarch on branch of a common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis), 10 meters above ground. 1 monarch was already roosted, but a second monarch landed on same branch and the first monarch departed. Only 1 remained. Roost is above “Boathouse Road,” an access road to the seed beds without a lot of traffic. Road has tree lines (hackberry and osage orange) and invasive bush honeysuckle at ground level on both sides, providing shelter from the wind.

65 degrees F (18.33 C). Partly cloudy. Winds at 12 mph from the west / northwest, with gusts up to 19 mph. RH 55%, Dew Point 48. Sunset scheduled for 1918 hours.
