Approximately 25 monarchs observed roosting on 2 White Mulberry trees (Morus alba) that are adjacent to one another with canopies touching. Trees are adjacent to parking area and prairie restoration. Clusters appeared to be only 1 -4 with mainly roosts of 1 – 2 monarchs. There were a number of monarchs flying and exploring but flew further to the west toward a wooded area. Surrounding field has goldenrod and common boneset.

77 degrees F (25 C). Sun has set on horizon. There are a lot of shadows. Light winds at 7 mph with gusts up to 12 mph from the east/northeast, RH 60%, Dew Point 62. Sunset scheduled for 1901.

In Explosives Road Trailhead Area (Gate 10) at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (U.S. Forest Service).
