4 monarchs in a cluster on a common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis) on south side of the tree, 7 meters above the ground. Other monarchs explored the tree but didn’t land.

From 1800 – 1930, there were numerous monarchs observed flying all along the Henslow Trail, exploring trees adjacent to the trail. Some trees with single monarchs roosting were observed, but the majority of monarch seemed to fly to wooded areas well to the north of the trail. No large clusters were located on this day as opposed to previous 2 days.

With the leaves changing color, it is getting more difficult to spot single monarchs in the trees.
