At least three ruby throated - 1 adult female and two juveniles? -zooming around feeders and flowers, chasing each other. The dominant female announces herself with loud buzzing, and the other two are chittering as they try to feed. The adult just swerved from her feeder approach to chase another bird off some distant zinnias. It’s a wonder they still manage to nearly empty our four little Hummzinger feeders every couple of days! Activity and number of birds is way down from earlier this month when all feeders were drained daily, but we’re still seeing at least 3 to 5 per day. These birds often hover in front of the porch screen looking in at us. Fun to see! I hope the migration goes well for all our little friends.
