Dozens of Monarchs have been nectaring on our large beds of zinnias and are now showing a liking of tall croppings of Mexican Sunflowers. Between 2:30 and 4:30 pm CST there were at least 30, likely more, flitting from flowerhead to head. We see the most #'s in full sun conditions and an estimate of humidity was 60%.
I am noting this generation's color seems more saturated, bold, and the sizes are quite large.
In the evening I followed (with binoculars) several flying together to a white pine and then observed a Monarch in torpor, a first, but did not view other individuals or clusters.
