32 monarchs on a common hackberry (Celtis occidentalis). One cluster had 12 at 6 meters up on northeast side of tree, and another cluster had 15 in a cluster on north side of tree also at 6 meters. Other monarchs were scattered around tree. Additional 2 monarchs in tree growing adjacent and against this tree, so they are counted as part of this roost. Not all monarchs appear in photo.

Before sunset. Sunny 73 degrees (22.78 C). Almost no winds during observation, but weather indicated winds from the south at 4 mph with gusts up to 8 mph. Sunset scheduled for 1849. RH 75% with dew point 64.

On Henslow Trail near Iron Bridge Trailhead at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (U.S. Forest Service).
