Monarch Fall Roost
Sightings report image

Date: 10/01/2025

Number: 163

Around sunset this evening I counted 140 roosting in the arboretum hedge and nearby trees, plus another 23 roosting in a couple pecan trees a block away. The count includes about a dozen that were still nectaring on asters and hyssop. A noticeable change is that monarchs are now grouping together to roost. When the migration started, they would roost singly on a branch.
