Most of our resident juvenile hummingbirds left on Sep 26th, a day after large group of Blue Jays and American Crows arrived. The remaining 3 - 5 hummingbirds stopped using feeders. We have some 400+ varieties of flowers still in full bloom. The last resident was seen on Oct 1 (see photo) at dusk just before a series of cold nights in 40s arrived. It was nectaring on Cuphea and other flowers, until dark, Since then 1 or 2 migrants have been coming every couple of days. Today there was one, probably the last sighting for this season? Next week onwards some nights will be 30s.
