We had a constant flow of monarchs throughout the day yesterday in the creek bed. I counted 51 roosting individually or in small clusters of about 6 just before dawn (10-7-25) and as the sun came up. They were resting on the branches of American Elm, Black Willows, Osage Orange, Green Ash, and Eastern Redcedar. They were anywhere from 4 feet to about 12 feet off the ground as far as I could tell. They seem to prefer the branches over the deepest part of the dry creek bed. I didn't see any roosting along the upper edges of the creek banks.
