Over the past 3 weeks we have seen Monarchs in ones and twos; no real significant number. Over the past couple of days those numbers increased to 5-10 at one time. With the passage of a cool front on 10/07, numbers today have increased significantly.
My count of 40 was just standing in our front yard and doing a rough count over a couple of minutes. Other areas of flowers in the yard have a number of butterflies also. As normal for this time of the year, there is a mix of nearly a dozen different butterflies and moths as well as bees and wasps. As can be seen by the grass, it has been rather dry here.
