Monarch PEAK Migration
Sightings report image

Date: 10/16/2025

Number: 20

At least 20 Monarchs are nectaring in my large back yard, along with many Queens, 4 American Ladies, 2 Yellow Sulfurs, Cabbage Whites,a variety of Skippers, and 5 Bumblebees and other bees.
They prefer the Gregg's Mist, Cowpen Daisies, and Blue Salvia.
I observed these from 11 am to about 5 pm, on a cool day in the low 80's, with a light south breeze. I only counted the Monarchs on 3 large flower stands, 1 by 1. I also had 3 large stands of Cowpen daisies I did not count butterflies on, so there could be even more present. I also did not count in my south large flowerbed where native sunflowers grow.
They have been here since 10/15/2025 at least.
Some were so hungry I could stand by the Mistflower and touch them.
They and the Queens went to the tall Elm trees within 8 ft. of the flowers, to roost, about 7:00 pm, 20 minutes til sunset.
