On a sunny day with temps in the low 70's I spotted 15 monarchs in 4 hours. I walked from 2 pm to 6 pm. The food sources in the area are diminishing, only about 20% of the golden rod remains vibrant and succulent. This has been a very disappointing migration in this area. I walk everyday and my monarch spotting are substantially down. Not sure if it is the extremely warm temps and they are still not migrating to this area or what conditions are causing this. Additionally I usually have over 100 cats on my milkweed thought the summer. I could not find any eggs or cats throughout the summer.Hopefully this is a onetime event and not a peek of what is to come.Very disappointing and sad year.
